What
does long-term care insurance cover?
Long-term
care insurance provides benefits for prescribed long-term
care, meaning a licensed health care practitioner must verify
or diagnose a person's need for long-term care, which can
include nursing home, assisted daily living an/or home health
care services. Great improvements have been made since the
first long-term care products were introduced over two decades
ago. Today's policies have more features and most do not restrict
coverage to nursing homes. With options available that cover
care in the home or in community settings, such as assisted
living facilities or adult day care centers, you can buy a
policy that is tailored to your needs and individual situations.
