Supplemental
Coverage: Basic vs. Extended Basic
Supplemental
insurance is meant to add to your Medicare coverage, not to
replace any part of Medicare coverage. Regardless of the policy
or plan you choose, you will pay a premium (annually or monthly)
for Medicare supplemental insurance, which will vary depending
on the amount of coverage you buy. This is in addition to
your Part B Medicare premium.
Private
insurance companies offer two types of Medigap policies: Basic
and Extended Basic. The following table describes the benefits
provided by each of the plans.
